Madison to Chicago 2010 was a success! All of our runners are back safely in Chicago - Ms. Pham is recovering from her bout of heat exhaustion. Special thanks goes to Mr. Kretz for staying with Ms. Pham in the hospital. Mr. Martin reported that Friday was one of the hottest and most humid days that he has ever experienced as a veteran runner. It was so hot, in fact, that the teams could barely sleep in the vans while they were waiting for their turn to run.
The heat was followed by rain that became so strong that the race was stopped for about an hour on Saturday just north of the finish line. Our valiant team finished the relay in the park near Montrose Harbor around 6:00pm.
More information on the race, donations, and pictures coming soon!
Thank you to all who supported the MC200 team!

Mr. Martin reports that the team left Madison and began running at about 7:30 this morning. Right now, Ms. Birch (5th Grade - Our Lady of Charity) is running Leg 5 of the relay. In total, they have gone about 20 miles. The weather is hot and humid, but everyone is excited about getting to Chicago.

Our 2010 Madison to Chicago Relay team left yesterday for the drive north. They spent the night in Madison and got started running just a couple of hours ago. This year's team includes some returning runners as well as some new faces. We are happy to have a combined team of teachers from both Saint Frances of Rome and Our Lady of Charity schools. Please check back throughout the weekend for more updates on the team.

We got lost. We battled minor injuries. We got sick. We slept in parks, churches and in parking lots. We got drenched by heavy rains. We ran over 200 miles! WE HAD A BLAST! … and we want to do it again next year! On behalf of Fr. Mark, Mr. Martin and all the teachers who participated, we want to thank you for your many prayers and the financial support you provided in our effort to raise money for the Catholic education programs offered in the parish.
We started out in Madison, Wisconsin at 7:00 a.m. on Friday morning and ran for over 30 consecutive hours before arriving at Montrose Avenue beach on the Chicago lakefront. There was beautiful sunshine as we traversed many hiking and bike trails in Wisconsin. By late evening, the sun had turned to clouds and the rains began as we continued the trek from Milwaukee on our way toward Chicago. By morning, the rains had eased up and the day turned beautiful as we completed our remaining legs.
Below is a list of the runners and their individual miles for those of you who pledged for individual runners. At the bottom of the list is our total mileage. Again, thank you for all your support. If you are interested in joining us next year, please let us know.
